Policy Statement on Children, Young People and
the Church.
Children and Young People are
part of our Church today. They have much to give as well as to recieve. We
listen to them. As we nurture them in worship, learning and community life, we
will respect the wishes and feelings of the children and young people.

Our Church holds
a trusted position in our community, which brings with it certain
responsibilities towards all, but especially to children and young people.
It is our duty to do all we can to ensure their safety and well being as we
aim to show then God's love. |

As members of
the Church, we commit ourselves to the nurturing, protection and safe
keeping of all, expecially children and their families. |
 |
It is the
responsibility of each one of us to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional
or racist abuse of children and young people, suspected or discovered. |
 |
We recognise
that our work with the children and young people is the responsibility of
the whole Church. |
 |
The Church is
committed to supporting and resourcing this work, providing training and
support for those who work with children and young people. |
 |
The Church will
formulate agreen practice guidelines and ensure that all workers with the
children and young people observe them. |
 |
As part of our
commitment to children and young people the Church will appoint children's
advocates, whose role will be regularly explained to children, young people
and the whole congregation. Their names and telephone numbers will be
publicly displayed. |
