UR Actors

On Thursday evenings members enjoy a variety of activities such as trying to capture the character using make-up skills or masks, singing, movement to music and / or dance, improvisation, workshop drama and interpreting and rehearsing from a script but more importantly they have fun while learning to work as a team.

We run as a charitable organisation under the umbrella of the United Reformed Church, High street, Wellingborough. We are therefore able to offer a high quality drama experience at a fraction of normal costs.

Our 8 leaders are all volunteers and come on a Thursday evening because they enjoy it! Leaders bring a variety of different skills to the group, which enhance the learning experiences that members enjoy.

We have an "open door" to all young people, whether they belong to the Church or not. We also welcome parents and friends to drop in anytime to find out more about what we do and offer an informal audience.

Members perform regularly in a main production

 Jan, 2003 “A Variety Performance”

Feb, 2004 “Jack and the Beanstalk”

Feb, 2005 “Alice in Wonderland”

Feb, 2006 “Robin Hood”

Feb 2007 "Peter Pan"

U R Actors have also performed at the Castle Theatre and in the Wellingborough Music Festival and to entertain groups in the local community.

Any money we raise through productions or other activities is used to the benefit of our members so that there is no charge for scripts or costumes. We have also been able to purchase make-up and some lighting.

All of our leaders have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau, to ensure the safety of the young people in our care.

6-18 years old,

Every Thursday 5.30 –7.30pm, at Salem Hall, Salem Lane, Wellingborough

On Thursday evenings members enjoy a variety of activities such as trying to capture the character using make-up skills or masks, singing, movement to music and / or dance, improvisation, workshop drama and interpreting and rehearsing from a script but more importantly they have fun while learning to work as a team.

Our activities work towards one main production each year. Alongside this we are involved in smaller productions that we produce, Church productions, and when possible take our productions out into the community.

Members pay £5.00 per half term, and we run along normal school terms, but have some Sunday afternoon rehearsals and activities.
